Letter from the president

First of all, let me thank all of you for such a strong participation rate in the recent board elections. I believe we broke a record, with more than 50 units presenting their vote.

As you might know by now, your current board has appointed the following officers and directors:
President: Alejandro Lopina
Vice President: David Lucterhand
Treasurer: Roberto Raffo
Secretary: Rosie Pachon
Director: Edward Solando

What this means for you is very straightforward: a continuation of the vision that had guided Atlantis for the past three years. This is not a year to embark on heroic new projects or initiatives, and not even for starting to polish Atlantis.
What it doesn’t mean is that the financial oversight I have conducted during my tenure as treasurer will come to an end.
This year, ending May 2014, the board will focus mainly on three areas:
First and foremost, making sure the restoration project continues on track. Our guide is getting things done right, the first time, and striving to preserve the original design and aesthetics of Atlantis.
Second, we will continue to keep our finances in order.
Third, we will seek to increase association member involvement. We need your help and there has been no better time to participate.

A Gym renovation committee was formed as follows:
Chair: Rosie Pachon
Members: Lucas Delfino, John Curry, Charlie Porter, John Shibilo, Mercedes Gonzalez, Cesar Corrales.

A Newsletter committee is still in the making. Let a board member know if you’re interested in participating, be it as editor or as a content contributor. We will start to experiment with digital formats and distribution, which might also make it easier to publish news in a more timely manner.
At the top of the page you will find a section dedicated to updates regarding the renovation project and sections with pictures of the renovation project as well as miscellaneous pictures of our building.

Dates have been tentatively set for the next few board meetings as follows:
First Monday of every month.
August 5
September 2 (now moved to the 9th)
October 7
November 4
December 2
January 6
February 3
March 3

Finally, please join me in welcoming Rosie Pachon as a first time member of the Atlantis board and Roberto Raffo, who has served previously.

Alejandro Lopina
